La Motte Train Depot

The La Motte Train Depot is a historic Milwaukee Road railroad depot that was originally built in 1911 in La Motte, Iowa as a passenger and freight station on one of Iowa's narrow-gauge rail lines. Today, the depot has been relocated to the Clinton Engines Museum site in Maquoketa, where it is preserved by the Jackson County Historical Society as a reminder of the area's railroad heritage. It is one of the last surviving narrow-gauge railroad depots in Iowa and offers visitors a glimpse into the transportation history that helped shape Jackson County
